I'm a real show-stopper in any tropical-or-Mediterranean-style garden. I'm originally from North Africa, and the Canary Islands, and I love full sun, and well-drained soil. As a succulent I store water in my stem in case of long periods of drought so I'll be fine during a summer heatwave (I know, I know, the good old British weather!). I'm best in a nice pot with a well-drained gravelly compost mix and if you try to remember where I'm originally found, you'll know not to over-water me. I'm a small aeonium and am perfect for a balcony or small cafe table on a patio.

  • That all depends on how you look after me. If you take me into the garden for summer and bring me into a warm bright spot for winter I'll grow an inch or two each year and I'll send a few side shoots into the bargain. If my winter home is cool and shady I might not grow at all until the next summer. Don't expect me to get taller than 18 inches.
