I'm a real show-stopper in any tropical-or-Mediterranean-style garden. I love being in a border alongside other plants, and I'm also happy in pots. My dark red leaves reach up for the sun. I'll thrive in a typical British summer, and if the conditions are right I can grow to a couple of meters tall. If you put me in a large pot I'll seem even bigger! You can treat me the same as one of your usual summer bedding plants. I trace my ancestry to New Zealand, where the climate is often very similar to the UK. I'm not keen on wet clay soil, but generally I will enjoy any weather our summer and autumn throw at me.

That depends where you keep me. If I'm in a pot in a cool shady exposed balcony I might grow 5-or-10 centimetres taller each year. If I'm in a warm sunny border with loads of moisture and feed I might grow 30 centimetres a year. Ultimately I can grow to be a medium sized tree so don't plant me too close to a wall or fence.
